Vicky began teaching as a primary school teacher in immersion and a bilingual class at Te Kura o te Whakarewarewa in Rotorua. From there she worked with parents from the local Montessori preschool on the same street to create the first Bilingual Montessori Primary Class in New Zealand. Vicky then moved to Christchurch and worked with the Nova Trust to create the site in New Brighton as the founding Teaching Principal for the Primary & Intermediate and began tutoring children after school on Fridays. For the last decade Vicky has been tutoring preschool, primary, intermediate and high school children in Hawke’s Bay using Montessori Materials. She supports children to find their strengths, build their confidence and competence at their own pace and has helped children in immersion learn English and those transitioning to Kura learn Te Reo. Vicky undertook Speld Training when she was a rural teaching principal and supports children who need time processing and have signs of dyslexia.
